SOUTH QUEENS WOMEN’S MARCH PART-TIME CIVIC ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR
South Queens Women’s March (SQWM) seeks a part-time civic engagement coordinator to support SQWM’s outreach efforts and organizational capacity. The SQWM civic engagement coordinator is a position tailored to an individual with a passion for social justice and grassroots activism. The coordinator will support SQWM’s operating and programming efforts. Key responsibilities would include the following:
Create media and graphic content to promote upcoming events and SQWM programming
Staff SQWM events and programs and assisting with aspects of event planning, management, and logistics
Provide research support and assist planning for various program and outreach initiatives including but not limited to monitoring relevant local policy priorities
Source content to share, including, but not limited to, tagged brand photos, relevant memes and/or GIFs, on-brand reposts, etc.
Plan and research social media posts and trends, and be comfortable crafting stories and posting on social media in a timely manner
Assisting with data input and tracking
Represent South Queens Women’s March at various speaking engagements
Represent South Queens Women’s March in various coalition spaces
Preferred Academic or Experience Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated personal commitment to social justice and volunteer service
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Have general knowledge of social media analyzation tools to boost engagement on various social media platforms
Experience with public speaking
Experience with project management and proactive, creative planning
Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
Excellent organizational and administrative skills
Knowledge of basic website design and maintenance
Excellent editing and research skills
General multi-tasking skills, attention to detail and positive attitude
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Canva
Interest in event planning and management
Experience with graphic design is a plus
Work Location and Hours:
Organizer would be paid $23 per hour and be expected to work 15-20 hours per week. Hours are flexible and may require work on weekends. Position is temporary and will begin in May 2025 and end in December 2025. Position may be extended contingent upon additional funding.

BOARD MEMBER SEARCH
South Queens Women’s March seeks dedicated activists, professionals and leaders to join our 2024-2026 Board of Directors. The Board will serve at the highest level of decision-making for South Queens Women’s March. The Board collaborates with the organization’s Executive Director in creating an intersectional and purposeful agenda, while actively participating in meetings and committees. Members of the Board of Directors also serve as public spokespersons for the organization.
Open Positions: 1 Treasurer and 1 Secretary
Role of Treasurer: Financial management and budget
Role of Secretary: Keeps and stores minutes, documents activities in accordance with bylaws
As a member of SQWM’s Board of Directors, your primary responsibilities include:
Oversight & Governance:
Participate actively in bi-weekly Board meetings and SQWM’s major events.
Engage with SQWM programs by observing at least one annually to gain insights into operations and impact.
Oversee financial governance by approving the annual budget and compensation arrangements.
Enhance Board effectiveness by aiding in the recruitment of new Board Members.
Guide the strategic direction and policy development in alignment with SQWM’s mission, and periodically evaluate organizational performance and outcomes.
Fundraising:
Collaborate actively in fundraising efforts to support SQWM’s mission and goals.
Network and build relationships with foundations, corporations, and individual donors to expand funding opportunities.
Community Support and Outreach:
Serve as a passionate ambassador for SQWM, promoting its vision and goals.
Build and strengthen relationships with community leaders, organizations, and other key stakeholders to enhance SQWM’s reach and impact.
Give-or-Get Policy
Each Board Director pledges to annually contribute or fundraise a minimum of $1,000, with a $250 commitment upon starting the role. Minimum can be met by applying for and securing grant opportunities.
Term and Time Commitment
Two-year term, eligible for re-appointment. There will be a 90 day probationary period.
Bi-weekly plenary Board meetings with two-week advance notice.
Attendance at SQWM’s major events and minimum one program observation annually.
Average commitment: 15 hours/month
Desired Skills and Experience
Passionate about the mission and vision of SQWM.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with a preference for candidates who have a background in the nonprofit sector or in fields related to SQWM’s mission and objectives.
Proven ability to cultivate relationships and build consensus among diverse individuals and groups.
Experience in fundraising activities, whether in a formal or informal capacity. This includes skills in donation solicitation and an understanding of event planning and execution.
A commitment to dedicating the necessary time and effort to fulfill the responsibilities of a Board Director effectively.
High standards of integrity and a deep passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of SQWM’s constituency.
Additional desirable skills include strategic planning, financial acumen, and experience in community outreach and engagement.
